Empowering Women to Pivot, Rise, and Build Their Legacy

ABOUT THE GRANT The Legacy League is a private S-Corporation dedicated to recognizing and propelling exceptional women leaders and founders within Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. We believe that strategic capital, when placed in the hands of visionary women, creates a ripple effect of innovation and community advancement.
EVALUATION & SELECTION As a private corporate initiative, The Legacy League’s executive review panel will evaluate all proposals based on business viability, professional vision, and alignment with our organizational ethos.
We will identify a shortlist of 10 Finalists who demonstrate exceptional potential. From this group, 3 Recipients will be selected to receive the 2026 Legacy Impact Grant and executive advisory support.
Note: All funding decisions are made at the sole discretion of The Legacy League, Inc.

TIMELINE Application Opens: January 15, 2026 Application Closes: February 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM Recipients Announced: April 2026

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS To be considered for the Legacy Impact Grant, applicants must meet the following criteria: Identity: Applicants must identify as women. Residency: Applicants must currently reside or operate their primary business/initiative in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia.

Vision & Documentation: Applicants must demonstrate a clear professional vision and provide supporting documentation (e.g., CV, pitch deck, or business plan) to validate their initiative.

Please Note: The Legacy League is a for-profit entity, not a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This grant is a private philanthropic initiative funded by our corporation and private gifts.

Who We Support

We believe that legacy isn’t always linear. That’s why this grant is not reserved for students or traditional educational paths. Instead, we fund women who are actively building a legacy through leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact.

Eligible applicants must:
• The National Capital Region Washington DC, Northern Virginia or Maryland region

• Be in the early stages of launching or scaling a business or nonprofit.
• Have a clearly defined business model, with scalable potential and aligned values.
• Be able to demonstrate the impact this grant will have on their professional growth and legacy work.

Grant Package Includes:
• Financial award to fuel business or nonprofit growth
• One-year complimentary membership in The Legacy League (Founder’s Circle tier)
• Executive mentorship pairing with a member of our Founding Board

Yasmeen Shields has always had the gift of gathering. A dynamic executive, creative entrepreneur, and community leader, Yasmeen built her reputation on creating spaces that blend beauty, meaning, and connection.

She first captured hearts as the founder of Yasmeen’s Sassy Wreaths, a vibrant brand that brought women together for hands-on creativity, and memorable experiences. Her work was featured in Northern Virginia Magazine, celebrating her ability to spread style and empower women through artful expression and community connection.

Today, Yasmeen brings that same energy and elegance to The Legacy League. With over two decades of experience in hosting women’s brunches, elegant dinners, philanthropic events, and mentorship circles, she has created a new kind of association—one rooted in grace, legacy, luxury, and fellowship.

An active nonprofit board member and respected figure in Loudoun County’s business and philanthropic community, Yasmeen brings vision, grace, and genuine connection to everything she creates.
